The Vegas Trip

Well, today's slide show was much quicker to prepare than yesterday's. Luck of the draw, I would guess. Certainly not anything I did.

The newest slide show is of our recent trip to Las Vegas. DH had his annual "hip-hip-horray" meeting with fellow employees from around the nation. I spent my time walking around and visiting. I also used the time to do my "homework" for the photography class I'm taking. (I was to take photographs at manual setting and using the flash.) So, I'm sharing some of the good ones with you. It's an amazing feeling to have a photo turn out right when you've set the scene yourself. Still not a pro, but enjoying the art, none-the-less.

Our trip was nice with great weather. The only (as ususal) downside were the flights to and from. Going out we were delayed for three hours in Dallas and coming home our flight was cancelled and we ended up catching a US Air flight into Charlotte and renting a car. We arrived home at 2 a.m.!!! However, we were the lucky ones. Some of Lee's co-workers are just now coming home....four days late.

And, one last thing on the HELL that is air travel today, can you imagine this: our first American flight gave us a can of soda ONLY. They gave us a speech stating that they had snacks ($3 each), meals ($5 each), a blanket and pillow ($5 each). Then on the connecting flight, they did show us a movie (for free) as their apology for our three hour delay (which they offered no explanation for). Coming home, if you wanted to see the movie, you had to rent headphones for $4. Can you believe this? Is there any other industry out there which has exponentially raised their rates and equally lowered their services at the same time? Talk about a racket! Customer Bill of Rights....like that would solve anything. We've barely been able to keep our existing Bill of Rights in tact! (Whew, I feel much better now.)

Well, we made it home, with no lost luggage so I guess by air travel standards, that is a good thing. And, given that I will have to spend 20 hours on a plane in the future...okay, we won't think about that just yet!!

Have a great day.

Love this blog! This is my first time participating in a blog, so I am a "blog virgin" as it were...

Your air travel experiences sound like that Southwest commercial where they show the flight attendant going down the list of charges for various items, including putting a quarter in a slot to use the restroom. I thought Southwest was stretching the point to be funny, but after reading your post, I no longer think so! Glad you got back from Vegas safe and sound. Houston is in March, right?
Well, my first blog entry...it was nice.
