Parenting is like the stock market. You invest a lot with very little return sometimes. When you do hit, however, you hit big with greater returns that you'd hoped for.--Mamma

Going's On at the House

It's a good day here in the Rebel South (my new nickname for the homeland; so named for reasons I won't explain further so as not to offend). Today is a special day for me as it marks the birthday of my very dearest, oldest (i.e. longest duration of time), most loving best friend, Teresa. How good a friend is she? So good that she even turns older first! So, happy, happy birthday wishes to you, BFF!!!

We're back to ticking off household chores here at the house. This past weekend we finally go around to recovering the dining room chairs and Lee did a fabulous job on that. I finished my photography class last week and can't wait to block out some time to run around Greenville and shoot away (pictures, that is). I've also begun a "photography" exchange with cousin Lois who is an amateur photographer. Her work is quite beautiful and something for me to measure up to.

We also got the shed cleaned out (at least the first go-round) and DH has begun the task of preparing the riding mower for another season. Yes, while most of our friends and family are shoveling snow, we are getting ready to mow grass. It was in the high 70's to low 80's last week and should be in the high 60s to mid-70s this week. No complaints here on that at all.

Tomorrow we get our new satellite service installed. We've taken the plunge and switched from Dish to DirecTV. Dish Network proved to be the most un-customer-service friendly company I've had to deal with here in the Rebel South and I finally just said "enough." So, we'll see if they prove to be a better provider. Keep your fingers crossed. With any luck, by this time tomorrow evening, we'll be watching High-Def programming on the new 42" LCD TV. 'We'z 'n 'da big time now.'

There is no new news on our Pumpkin. The prayer chain is still being mulled around. Or, at least Aunt Kelly and I are joining together. There is some speculation that another batch of referrals could be sent at the end of the month, and there are rumors that the next batch of referrals could be large so as to allow China to catch itself up in the backlog. Again, these are just rumors and speculation...guesses for a betting man, if nothing else. But, it is the life of an adoptive parent (unless, of course, you're Angelina Jolie or Madonna). Next week the rumors of just how much of a referral batch will be included in the March or April group will start to swirl like a banshee.

That's about it from here. We'll keep you posted on any development....good or bad.

P.S. I'll be putting some new photographs on the blog for your viewership. The one set is our our first daughters, Kaden and Sophie Rae. As you'll see Kaden is much more relaxed in front of the camera than Sophie who thinks you're going to rub her belly if you get that close! The second set of photos includes some pictures I took as part of my photography class and some of JJ Ohlinger, an artist who took the class with his Dad. As an FYI, JJ has sold his artwork to Elton John. Enjoy!
