Super Steeler Weekend
February has seen a lot of activity here in The Patch. We began the month with a victorious Super Bowl game in which our beloved Steelers became the first football team in history to win six (yes, that's 6) Super Bowl titles. The Pumpkins traveled to Pittsburgh to enjoy the heart-stopping game with Pumpkin's God-family.
Super Bowl Sunday began with a visit to church where a childhood friend serves as Pastor. How delightful to find everyone in the congregation (except one faithful follower of the Cardinals) in Steeler gear and a sermon that began with a short video on Troy Palomalu followed by an exuberant rendition of the Steeler fight song. Talk about a devotional spiritual!! The Pumpkins then went to our cousins (one of the two Godparents for Leena) for a party. There was a ton of food, including the local favorite Pierogis, great conversation and a nail-biting game to enjoy.
To best prepare Pumpkin for her first Steeler Super Bowl, we suited her up and let her have fun. In reality, she ended up playing most of the afternoon and evening with her cousin, having little regard for Mamma's screaming and jumping up and own. Even Daddy Pumpkin found himself glued to the t.v. as touchdowns were scored, penalties applied, replays watched....yikes! Mamma Pumpkin packed her Terrible Towel away at the 2 minute warning (I know, "O Ye of Little Faith") and was delightfully surprised when we pulled victory out of the wings of the Cardinals. WOW!
I can only think Myron Cope (you locals will know the name) is smiling down from Heaven wishing he'd have been there to call that game.
Go Steelers!!
