This past weekend my practice daughter came for a visit. For those of you wondering, this is my oldest niece, Diana. She is the first grandchild in our family and a dear, sweet young woman full of grace. (Diana is my practice child since she tells me I am the Mom she was supposed to have and she lived with me for about two years.)
We had a wonderful time together. On Saturday we went shopping, just the two of us with lots of girl talk. Later that evening, the three of us went downtown. It was a first-time visit for us and we very much enjoyed the waterfalls and suspension bridge and beautiful pathways. Mind you, I walked with a new pair of sandals on that blistered my feet, but I still enjoyed myself. The cherry on the evening was a carriage ride around downtown. It was a first for all three of us and it was just like the opening scene in one of my favorite movies, Barefoot in the Park. (Well, I must say it was lovely until our horse, Sampson, took a doo-doo in his diaper. Sitting downwind did not make for an advantageous position and it was definitely a mood buster for a while!!!!)
All in all, it was just a lovely weekend and much needed bright spot for us. The picture with this post is of the three of us in the carriage. The beautiful blond in Diana Lynn.
