We're half-way through June today and an eeensy-weeensy bit closer to our Pumpkin. Heaven knows you would think that is all I think about (and some would argue it should be), but it really isn't the case. The past few weeks have been trying ones with a computer crash, a laptop almost crashing and a missed flight on US-Scair. I know I'm not alone since my BFF's husband got his hotel room taken away from him even after he'd had a reservation. So, it would appear the world is full of crap right now!
The slide show that precedes this entry on the blog is of our latest home (and dare I say last) project. We finally got the garage done! It was quite the fiasco in that we had hoped to use a sprayer to just band-aid over the "enchilada" job left us by the contractors (and I use that term very loosely), but two sprayers later we had nothing but a mess on our hands. So, after I changed undergarments from laughing at my paint soaked husband, and at 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday night, we began to hand-roller the garage. Mind you, we'd now been at this project since about 10 a.m. Thankfully it was a holiday weekend and we had a little extra time. At 1 a.m. on Sunday, we finished putting down the floor paint. The next weekend Lee hung up his shelving and our neighbor's daughter, Samantha, and I carried in everything that was in the house and back yard. Now, we have the nicest man cave in the development. Lee is very proud and very happy that his beloved "Ebony" (the Harley) is safely inside and protected. (She had been out in our storage shed, still under roof and protected, but his baby can have only the finest of surroundings, you see). (May we all bow in homage to that one!!!!!)
So, now we have all house projects done (or as many as we planned to do) and Lee has his weekends to himself. Well, Saturday and half of Sunday; that's all his job/Waste Management will allow him to have. That's our arrangement: I get 2.5-3 hours a night during the week and 1.5 days of the weekend with my husband. At least two nights a week he works in the dining room for a few hours and every Sunday night he works, as well. I sometimes think I have a roommate more than a husband. But, this too shall pass.
As for Little Pumpkin, we are down to 11 LID's to go. The next batch of referrals (due between June 29 and July 10) should bring us to within five (5) days, if they match another six days worth of babies. Last month was all a flutter with early predictions of a big batch of referrals, or many days included in the batch. That was a complete ruse. Now, early predictions are for the same size batch (although no one knows if that means same number of children placed or same number of days) or a bigger referral batch than this month. Still another person has extrapolated data from the past two years and is saying the batch could go through Nov. 21. All of these are most likely gump and we will go through another six days, giving us August for our referral.
Now, don't any of you avid followers of this process get your hopes up because a plethora of problems could prevent an August referral. Remember, we've been "expecting our referral next month" for almost two years now. So, we could always get another two day batch of referrals, have an in-country holiday to shut things down, or a host of other boulders that will provide a roadblock or stop the flow of referrals even more.
In short, Big Daddy and Little Mamma are still here waiting and Pumpkin is still in China waiting. We are told that we'll meet again some day, but Diana Ross said the same thing now didn't she? And last I checked, there were no reunion tours with the Supremes!
I hope everyone reading this has a special Father's Day this weekend. I am so very lucky to have a husband (when I get the pleasure of his company) who is going to be an excellent father to our daughter and is an extremely special Step-Father and Pops to a son, daughter, daughter-in-law and grandson now. Also, I am lucky to have a wonderfully terrific Dad of my own who, while he can get on my last nerve at times, I love dearly. So, Happy Father's Day to all the other wonderful men/fathers out there.
