Parenting is like the stock market. You invest a lot with very little return sometimes. When you do hit, however, you hit big with greater returns that you'd hoped for.--Mamma

Father's Day, 2007

We celebrated Father's Day here with Daddy picking his breakfast of choice (well, it was brunch, actually since he got to sleep in....present number one). He requested waffles, so I whipped some up from scratch and presented him with his gift. As you can see, he got a "Daddy and me" t-shirt for his little Pumpkin to wear. Since I've already got our daughter started in shoe-ville, he can handle the rock-n-roll. (Well, as much as I can reasonably tolerate, that is.)

We took a ride on the Harley to get DHs cell phone repaired and stopped for a small load of groceries. Given today's temperature of 93, I don't think that was the wisest choice we could have made. And, DH has taken his windshield off the bike, which means I get to ride down the highway with one eye closed, getting pelted with bugs and rocks and enough wind to make me hold my sunglasses in place so as not to lose them. I know, it's conjuring up quite the image for you right now, isn't it? I'm sure I won't be in any Easy Rider photo spreads anytime soon!

Tonight, DHs step-daughter called from Minnesota to wish him well, which was a perfect cap to the day. In short, Daddy had a great Father's Day, even though it would have been the bestest in the world if little Pumpkin were here, herself. We made do, celebrated and enjoyed as best we could. Here's hoping it was just as enjoyable for all the other Dad's and Dad's-t0-be out there.
