It's Sheer Craziness, I Tell You
I sit hear tonight, possibly on the cusp of receiving our referral, typing an entry in our blog on our trusty laptop computer. I've had to raise the chair in the office so I can actually type as quickly as I normally do on the desktop, but with this smaller keyboard. I've got a CPU from the desktop on my left, the laptop in the center and the monitor to the desktop on my right and two mice in front of that. In typical fashion, it's been a week from hell for me. I've got PMS, my computer started to crash on Monday, our roman shades in the family room both bailed on Tuesday, a magazine subscription that was supposed to save us money has involved multiple many-month phone calls to get activated and tonight a neighbor tells me not to cut my grass that appears to be in his yard (goofy property lines) because it makes his yard look bad! The man is lucky to be still breathing! This should be the happiest time of my life, and it's being besieged with crap in every shape and form!
We can't get the computer fixed until Aug. 11 so my sweet husband has hooked up the laptop so that I have Internet access if we do get the referral tomorrow or Friday, as is expected. I've got my Yahoo site up, my Rumor Queen site up and my Hughes.net site up. If any news comes, I'm ready! I'm just hoping I can get my desktop up and running long enough to print out my Outlook address book so that I can enter that information into my laptop so I can email information on the baby when and if we get it. Whew! I should mention that my computer crashed just after I moved into my first house in Pennsylvania, too. I just have crazy luck, I tell you.
So, here I sit in my office, typing away on one computer while another is being scanned for viruses. Lee is downstairs hanging blinds in the family room. Our adage this week is "it's always something." Lately, it's been something bad or at least stressful.
The latest news on the referral is this: packages were mailed from China and arrived in Los Angeles last night. It is hoped that these are the August referrals and that they'll arrive at the agencies across the U.S. tomorrow and calls will begin then or Friday. Our agency is cryptically tight lipped, but they do send everything at once. So, we may not get our information right away, but we get all the papers at once. Other agencies will call right away and not send photos or information for a day or two. However it gets here, just let it come. I'm anxious, excited, nervous, tense, jubilant, scared, hopeful.....everything at once.
That's all the news I have for this night. We'll keep posting as information becomes available.
