Parenting is like the stock market. You invest a lot with very little return sometimes. When you do hit, however, you hit big with greater returns that you'd hoped for.--Mamma

Leena's Latest Stats

Leena finally got to see her new Pediatrician yesterday and I have just two words: Big Girl. This Pumpkin was left on the vine a little too long, dear friends! She is now 34 inches tall and weights 29 pounds, 5 ounces. She is in the 95th or 99th percentile, based on American standards. She has gained 1.5 inches and 3 pounds since October. I'm starting to think she'll be earning athletic scholarships rather than academic ones, not that it matters; any financial support will be well appreciated at that point in our lives! However, ones does wonder whether Sumo Wrestling is an academic pursuit (LOL)!!

Today Miss P and I went to the big city of Harrisburg for an inspection on the car and she was an absolute DREAM! The long commute didn't phase her, she stayed in her stroller in the dismal waiting area of the car dealer and even went shopping with me afterwards, all with no muss or fuss. Anytime I take her somewhere I cannot explain the shear and utter joy I feel each time I look in that rear view mirror and see her sitting there. It's just one more reminder that she is real, finally here and that this one little dream has come true. I almost cry each time I think this way. And, another Kleenex moment is the shear fact that I finally got my child who will chair dance like Mamma in the car. Leena LOVES, LOVES, LOVES music and she'll sit in her seat and sway and clap to any music and it's just hysterical to watch. Thank goodness she's strapped in, otherwise her thrashing about would surely knock her right out of the seat. Daddy keeps asking her if she's going to be a dancer when she grows us, but frankly unless we get some meat off those thighs of hers, her options are looking pretty slim. I don't even think a "Dancing with the Stars" regime could save her. We're talking major pork chops!

Oh, and another incident today for the records is Leena officially baptized me. When we'd gotten home she was asleep, so I left her in the car to snooze and when she awoke I knew she needed changed. So, I lovingly carried her to her bedroom, placed her on the changing table (which she now has to lay on diagonally to fit) and began to take her diaper off. No sooner had I untapped the tabs when I see Leena grunt and out comes the shower! Thank goodness I'm quick or I'd have had to take a shower! I delighted in the incident if only because this is something most parents get to experience with the birth children as they have them from day one. I got to experience it, too, no matter how potentially messy the situation could have been.

Well, I'm going to dash as Daddy no doubt needs relief at this point. Not that I don't, you understand. Motherhood has shown me (whether or not I signed up for this particular aspect of the class) new levels of exhaustion and today's errands have certainly pushed me near the limit. So, I'm going to go join my family, get Pumpkin ready for her nightly bath and hopefully follow suit with an early bedtime. Yes, I now look forward to sleep by 9 or 10 p.m. No more night-owl for this lady.....oh how the mighty have fallen!!!
